The Simpson County School District kicked off this year's Leadership Academy on Saturday, August 29, with its first session, "The Leader Within—Becoming the Leader People Need."
The Leadership Academy is designed to support aspiring, new, and current instructional and educational leaders across the district. The program focuses on developing leaders who understand the "Simpson County Way" and are prepared to contribute to the continued growth of schools throughout SCSD.
During the first session, participants explored their individual leadership profiles and reflected on key areas of leadership, including self-leadership, relationships and trust, communication, courage and accountability, instructional and organizational leadership, and developing others.
Participants also identified personal strengths, areas for growth, and skills they would like to continue developing as they progress through the Leadership Academy.

The program includes 15 participants representing a variety of leadership roles across the district, including district-level leaders, principals, assistant principals, instructional coaches, and counselors.
